Kelechi Onukogu is the Managing Director, EMEA Head of Corporate Investment Bank (CIB) and Functions, Risk & Controls at Wells Fargo. He is a member of the regional ExCo and is accountable for the supervision and management of all front line risk activities across non-financial risk types within the region. A senior risk and control expert with a career that spans 20 years, Kelechi recently worked at Barclays, where he spent 5 years in the investment bank and group chief controls office, leading multiple initiatives for the control design and execution framework team. Prior to Barclays, he worked at JP Morgan for nearly 4 years in the Treasury business where he led the liquidity product risk and control team across EMEA and prior to that he spent 10 years at Deutsche Bank, where he kicked off his career in Banking working across Finance, Global Markets and Corporate Finance businesses.
Kelechi has a bachelor’s of science in management science with computing and accounting from the University of Kent, Canterbury and is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments.
Kelechi has a passion for Diversity & Inclusion, and played a pivotal role in creating and co-chairing, the UK Barclays Black Professional Forum (BPF) and his team won the ‘Inclusion Champion’ category in the 2019 Citizenship and Diversity Awards. More recently, at the height of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement in summer of 2020, he was appointed as the global head for the ‘Race at Work agenda’ sitting in group HR to design & execute the strategic framework for Barclays.
